wadeG
Ok. I know this topic keeps coming up and I have yet to find a true fix. I have found several work around fixes that only seem to put a band aid on the problem. Hopefully someone out there will know the direction to go in for a permanent fix. I recently installed prestashop and am just about done with the site. What I have noticed is that the thumbnails are not showing only on categories that I created beyond what came originally in the template. The categories that I simply changed in the original template will show the thumbnails. Upon element inspection this is what I found. this is from a working thumbnail "img class="replace-2x" src="[mydomain]/dir/c/4-0_thumb/tops.jpg" alt="" width="125" height="125". The category id is 4 and the working thumbnail has a directory created 4-0_thumb. The non working thumbnail -img class="replace-2x" src="[mydomain]/dir/c/en-default-0_thumb/clearance.jpg" alt="" width="125" height="125"- has a directory of en-default-0_thumb. This is true of all newly created categories. The actual image is located in the "c" directory after thumbnail upload. Its not creating the "Category Directory" such as, in this case should be, 13-0_thumb. I haven't seen this detail in any other of the posts about this product. Maybe this will give insight for someone to recognize a permanent fix. I assume that the issue is located somewhere in the category.tpl file but I cant seem to find it. Any suggestions? Just a quick follow up. I did change the category.tpl file. Line 84 img class="replace-2x" src="{$link->getCatImageLink($subcategory.link_rewrite, $subcategory.id_image, 'medium_default')|escape:'html':'UTF-8'}" alt="" width="{$mediumSize.width}" height="{$mediumSize.height}" to img class="replace-2x" src="{$link->getCatImageLink($subcategory.link_rewrite, $subcategory.id_image, '0_thumb')|escape:'html':'UTF-8'}" alt="" width="{$mediumSize.width}" height="{$mediumSize.height}" Prior to this change the thumbnails showed up as small versions of the category image. Once this change was made the thumbnail would show up on the original template categories. wadeG
Problem Solved..... After making the changes stated above in the category.tpl file, I figured out that you MUST upload a category image before a thumbnail image can be viewed on the page. When you upload a "category" image it will default to the thumbnail image as well. Simply delete the current thumbnail image and upload the image of your choice. You must keep the "category" image for each category.

wadeG
You have to upload a main category image first, then save it. Once you do that it will miraculously appear.
Mcrico82
Yes, miraculously appear but I just need a Category thumbnail image without category cover image. I can not remove the part of the code, cause some categories I'll use category cover image and some only Category thumbnail. Does anybody can help me!? I'm using Prestashop 1.6.1.6 Thanks Edited July 24, 2016 by Mcrico82 (see edit history)
