Guest
As it says in the title. The software is great, the moderators are great and help as and when they can - BUT they have other things to do so not always about to help. And I suppose their remit is more overseeing the forum than official support Prestashop is going from strength t strength, but there are always little niggles, little questions. A community forum is great but all too often it means your question does not get answered I know we have the forge, but questions are not always related to bugs AND getting an answer on there can take months So, yes. This forum needs a prestashop sponsored full time support technician to work on this site to help and support everyone Edited August 6, 2015 by Guest (see edit history)
NemoPS
It's a good idea, but I doubt the company will ever pay someone for this, when they have a pretty highly priced support line
Guest
It's a good idea, but I doubt the company will ever pay someone for this, when they have a pretty highly priced support line The problem is that too many threads go unanswered. I have a few outstanding at the moment that no one has answered and as potential users of prestashop see this they are less likely to jump on board. It does not have to be total support here on the forum Perhaps the forum support engineer (say engineer because it has to be someone who knows prestashop and the code very well) could look at every thread. If it is not answered in say 2 days then they could answer that thread with 1) Sorry that is not possible with standard prestashop, you will need to ask a private company to help code this for you 2) Sorry that is not possible with standard prestashop, but sounds like a great feature - add it to the suggestions board for future development 3) Yes that is possible - just do this in the menu....... 4) yes this is possible, just add this line of code to the "file.tpl" 5) I think this is possible but you need to use our special support service.... So then at least everyone who asks a question is aware that they have been listened to and that there problem can or cannot be solved. And they will get some kind of answer / solution within 2 days of asking
Guest
Another thought. If the support engineer was employed by prestashop just for this one role, then they could have a "Please show your appreciation" button in the engineers signature that allows us to make a small voluntary donation for the support. Put at a realistic level say £1-£5 then I am sure that many many people would be happy to show their support for a quick and speedy answer. Many prestashop users are small businesses trying to get started and can not afford large fees for support - probably why they are using Prestashop in the first place because it is "free". So a small donation for on going official support on these forums may really work. In the end it is about knowing you can get a real answer quickly
