Problems with new theme based on default-bootstrap

Recommended Posts

As I'm new to prestashop, I have been developing my site using the default-bootstrap theme - installing modules, customising them, tweaking tpl files (I know, bad practice, but I'm learning).

After getting my website looking pretty good, I wanted to create a new theme based on this one so I can continue making changes the proper way.

I created a new theme via back office. I copied missing files from the default-bootstrap theme.

However when I went to select my new theme, I got to the page where you select which modules to enable or not, and I simply hit save as the tip at the top said "If you are unsure of what to do next, just press the "Save" button and proceed to the next step."

Now everything has changed.

The left column is on every page now and not on selected pages, there are modules showing up all over the place, and worse of all,  the modules in display top (cart block, search block, top horizontal menu) are not working at all.

What I want to know is, can I switch it back to how it was with the default-bootstrap theme? or will the "Select the theme's modules you wish to enable" page going to make the default theme look like this one is now?

Any way to revert it back? Really wish I had backed up my files before attempting this. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I tried reverting and unfortunately it looks the same as this new theme now.

I suppose I can manually disable all these extra modules, and I can prob work out how to disable the left column on some of the pages, but the real problem is that some modules aren't working at all.

The cart black and the search block at the top are no longer clickable. The top horizontal menu now just displays a list of links with no styles. Its like now there are some broken links to the css and js. really weird. I thought copying the default theme to a new one would keep everything 'as is', but alas, this was not the case.
