Hook custom shipment API

Hi Guys,

 

I need to hook a custom shipment API to prestashop cart. The rate calculator should automatically read the weight & dimensions of the product and add the shipment price before proceeding to checkout (Paypal).

 

I am new with Prestashop & Wordpress. I have a good development background in drupal and joomla.

Any idea how to start? Which files should I be working on? How can I read the product related variables (dimensions, etc.).

the "correct" way to do this would be to create a module that extends the CarrierModule class.  The module would be responsible for displaying a Carrier option during checkout, with the correct pricing.  Your best bet would be to review prestashops fedex and ups modules and discover how they accomplish this.

 

Then you can copy various aspects of those modules and alter them accordingly
