Module translation not working

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm having a rather frustrating issue with some module translations. After searching a lot, I cant figure out why they're not being shown on the front office. (translating from english to spanish)

Link: http://factorytiendas.com/shop/

There are 2 main things which arent translating:

  • The text in the red box on the top right (the one saying 0 item(s))
  • the search box which says "Enter your keyword..."

I think both use custom modules (from the template), so Ive edited those using the translations menu in the back office.  Ive also verified that es.php is being created in the translations folder for both modules, but the translations just dont seem to appear.

Ive cleared smarty, and forced recompilation, but it still doesnt work.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I've had this issue and it was a result of 'Select your theme'.  If the module resides in modules then you would select 'Core (no-theme)', else you would select the theme the module resides in.  When I used theme and module not part of theme, it would in theme/modules/module create the xlation but not take on front office.  When I did 'core' and deleted the theme/modules/module(suggest rename), it worked.

this may not be your exact issue but it worked for me and a couple others I pointed this out to...

let us know how you get along.

happy day, el

Hey!

Thanks for the response.  I didn't quite understand that though, where are you selecting the theme? the modules im trying to translate are all in theme/modules/, since im using theme (and not the default one that comes with prestashop, those modules are located in /modules right?)

I used ftp to look at where modules resided.  If module resided in modules then I deleted what I created in theme/modules.  But ftp or other file view was required to determine where the module actually resided.  Sorry not much more help than that.  I opened forge report but  I don't think anything was done but more likely they did not understand my explanation.

I checked, and the module is in both directories.  Its at /modules, and also at theme/modules, but the translations are still not being read.

i have this problem in one store over 1 year.. the store owner was very frustrated and cogitated to give up PS to migrate to another platform..

honestly, i don't know how to solve this old issue..

what i'm doing is exactly what @El Patron described.

'When I did 'core' and deleted the theme/modules/module(suggest rename), it worked."

The problem is, for a reason i don't know, the theme modules translations are replaced again with faulty and wrong translations.

The store owner was very irritated.. angry because lost all translations he did to fix the bad and missing translations.

I never had time to make a deep investigation to try to find where the problem origins.
