How to add a waiting page/animated gif after order

Hello to everyone.

I use PS 1.3.2.3 

I need to insert a page or a animated gif after order confirmation in which I tell the customer to don't close the browser until the order is validated.

Cause, some customer close the browser before the validation process is complete, so no order appear in the list.

I tried to insert a echo <img src=... animation gif > in order-confirmation.php and in validation.php of cashondeliver module, but with no result. (even after clearing smarty files and cache)

Can someone help me to do this mod?

In would reach this goal:

After pressing "Confirm Order" starts a animated gif or a waiting page during the time the scripts (I think order-confirmation.php -> validation.php) connect to db and validate order and send the e-mail to the customer.

Pls help me!
