Send to a friend module problem

Hey i’m facing a problem.

In ‘send to a friend’ module 14 characters of any product name can be sent successfully but more than 14 characters of any product name is not being sent successfully.whenever I’ve tried to send a ‘product name’ that has characters more than 14, right then an error is being encountered as like ‘An error occurred during the process’.

Where is the problem, please help me.

Seems I have a similar problem.
I use the captcha send top a friend module, and when I tried now with a product whose name is long, it won't accept the captcha

Thanks for your reply.

I use simple 'send to a friend' module. When I send a mail to my friend along with long product name, mail is not send. I have to use captcha 'send to a friend module' same problem arise. My prestashop version is 1.2.5 final.

Please give me some solution to recover this problem.

Are you getting an error if you try t send it to a friend?

This seems to be the same problem on my site. When I try to send to a friend on a product with a short name, in example the name -

TEST PRODUCT

I receive this message: An email has been sent successfully to
and the email was received.

But when I sent a message from a product with a longer name, in example -

GROSGRAIN RIBBON SPINWHEEL HAIR BOW

There is 1 error :

01. An error occurred during the process.


I did try the link for the test product on prestochangeo and I received the email at my address.

Does anyone know the solution?

This bug has already been reported here, but it was marked as "Needs more info" and appears to have been forgotten about. Matthieu says in the bug report that this problem may occur if you are using a Prestashop version earlier than v1.2 or if you are using MySQL 4, since Prestashop is not compatible with MySQL 4. What version of MySQL are you using?

Try posting on the bug report. Hopefully, they'll look at this issue again and fix it.

I also get this error with the send to friend module that came with Prestashop 1.3.1 - lastest version, help....

It's now October 22, 2010. I have the same problem relating to the length of the Product Name. 1.3.1.1
It sounds like the variable for the product name is not declared with an appropriate size - but that is a guess from my programming days more than 15 years ago in a different programming language.

hey as today the issue hasnt been fixed , i was seacrhing fora solution , didnt realized it would give the error message only with a long name , probably the only solution is make the names smaller
