As for your quoted proposal: this would only work if the same currencies are present in the old shop as in the new one. So either I would need to include a similar requirement as for languages - that the same should be present in the old as in the new I will need to check and repair. But it is an option for future improvement.
Another problem is multiple imports. You would need some system to guarantee that you don't apply the language transformations twice.
