blackscorpion
Earlier my url was http://www.domain.com/product.htm, All of a sudden now it appears as http://www.domain.com/lang/6-product.htm... Is there any solution to this ?
NemoPS
I take it as you were running an id-removal module, did you uninstall it? Check that your overrides are still in place
blackscorpion
Hi Nemo, no i have not been running an id removal module, could you advise where do i check for the overrides?
NemoPS
But it's not possible that your product url was without trailing id before. See if you have anything inside override/classes
blackscorpion
where will i be able to see overide/classes
blackscorpion
Yes here it is http://prntscr.com/7b25e4 however when i try to delet it it says route not valid
NemoPS
Of course, you can't erase it. WHat I was saying it that you mentioned your products didn't have the trailing id before, but it's impossible without core modifications or an id removal module, I'd look for that first, since ti stopped working all of a sudden
blackscorpion
this was on cloud before and was working absolutely fine until now, is there a possibility to check if this module was removed?

selectshop.at
I can confirm Nemo's topic, no it's not possible. Prestashop works with ID's, still it is available and part of his core architecture. The only change Prestashop did from older versions to PS 1.6. is to remove the ID of the category on product URL. NOW: yoursite/lang/category/6-product.html, BEFORE IT WAS: yoursite/lang/12-category/6-product.html. But the ID of the product never was removed by default. If you had pretty URL's without any ID's, so you made some adaptations to the SEO, cahges on core or used a module for this. On the free section of the forum, you will find some free tutorials for how to remove the ID's. Better is to use a module. cause there are several things to be managed, not only the product.htm site. NemoPS
Just a small thing: since you mentioned it being hosted on prestashop's cloud, any non-official module (not from the addons store) will not work

Yes the module given at Official Market place can surely help you. I personally used the first module(PrestaShop pretty urls.). I have used it on my shop petsworld.nl/presta/kauwmateriaal/buffalo-oren-10-stuks and it has removed un-necessary ids, tags and numbers from urls of product pages,

selectshop.at
@blackscorpion So you just wanna remove the /lang? No, as you see on screen and links he wrote, he want's to remove the ID's. kyrios
Oh.. I see. I shall remind him that kind of module (remove ID) will not work on any blog module.
blackscorpion
No the problem is not resolved as of now, the new module of prestashop only works on the latest version of prestashop if I use that and upgrade my website the whole website goes for a toss and is one helluva job getting it all back together, there needs to be someway that prestashop automatically upgrades without any hassels. kyrios
@scorpion I suggest you do not use remove ID module, if your items is more than 1000 unique items. Or if the item's name are very close to each other. You'll have to very-very carefully to name the product when you add new item into DB. I have tried all the free module (lebioda, zizuu, wayann) and all will not work with any blog module. In the end, I uninstall them. I tested them locally. Coz I do believe content (blog activity) is more important than without ID url. Yes, I need blog module.
selectshop.at
In fact we suggest all our customers, to don't remove ID's. blackscorpion
I think I will take your advice and let it remain it appears that a lot of people advise not to remove the ids am not sure why prestashop put them there in the first place!! selectshop.at
It is Prestashop's main architecture, to work with ID's

blackscorpion
Thank you @kyrios @selectshop.at, I think I will respect that, I found this advice the best of all and will keep in mind for the future, it definitely does not cause any harm having the unique ids, I guess it makes unique urls much more wider by adding these unique ids
johnwolf
I respect the dear members but according to Google Guidelines, simple urls are preferred as compared to complex one containing ids, tags and numbers. Quoting the exact statement of Google here: "Overly complex URLs, especially those containing multiple parameters, can cause a problems for crawlers by creating unnecessarily high numbers of URLs that point to identical or similar content on your site. As a result, Googlebot may consume much more bandwidth than necessary, or may be unable to completely index all the content on your site." It has clearly mentioned that complex urls pages are difficult for Google bot to crawl completely. You can check Full Google Guidelines here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/76329?hl=en Therefore, If one can remove ids easily, it is good but if someone unable to remove then may be he get some indexing errors.
