Install not working for latest alpha version

Hi,
My first post in this forum.
I am attempting to test latest Alpha release of Prestashop on my test server.
I am using Linux Mint x-64 latest version on an HP Pavilion DV 8000, 2 GB RAM, 2 HDD 320 each.
Test server is XAMPP 1.7.3 using PHP 5.3
I am stuck with the email screen because this is just a test server, it does not have email capabilities.
However, the user name must be an email address.
I managed to install it once but could not access back end, because not recognizing my password for that email.
So I started over, but now I cannot install at all.
