multiple stores/multiple installations

hi all

I tried to set up a multiple store and I think I need a clarification about a few concepts.

 

Assume my home page is www.mystore.com , which is a central hub and does not have any item for sales, just images and links to store1 and store2.

Store1 and Store2 are different in appearance, products and categories and I want them the following links:

www.mystore.com/Store1

www.mystore.com/Store2

 

My questions are:

1- Do I need a prestashop installation for all of the followings:

               a. www.mystore.com

               b. www.mystore.com/Store1

               c.www.mystore.com/Store2

 

If yes, then each shop installation will have its' admin folder and I then believe I cannot control and share clients on all shops. Also, if I enable the multistore option in the hub shop (www.myshop.com), do I need to do it on all the others?
