PayPal upgrading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates

I receive an email from PayPal as following:

Subject: Important merchant integration upgrade information: You may need to take action.

Content:

We're contacting our merchants with some important information in
response to an industry-wide security upgrade, not unique to PayPal.
This change involves upgrading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates
over the course of 2015 and 2016.

Since these changes are technical in nature, we advise you to consult
your partner, website provider, or the people responsible for your
PayPal integration. They will be able to identify if any changes will be
needed. If you don't have a technology team, we recommend that you find
one, and we can work with them to ensure that you continue to process
payments through your current integration with PayPal.

Full technical details can be found in our Merchant Security System
Upgrade Guide [1]. In addition, our 2015-2016 SSL Certificate Change
microsite [2] contains a schedule of our service upgrade plan.

If you have any questions, please contact our Merchant Technical Support
team for technical support [3].

Thanks for your patience as we continue to improve our services.

Does anyone have any idea of it? What should I do?

Hi Bellini13,

I'm not sure what I should do in respond to the PayPal email I received.

As I know, Prestashop PayPal already changed from SSL V3 to TLS.

Is that mean I don't have to do anything as Prestashop PayPal is not using SSL anymore and hence won't be affected by the upgrading mentioned in the email?

Are you able to confirm my assumption?

If you are using the latest Paypal module versions (from 3.8.1. upwards) you don>'t need to take any action. This message is an old one, when SSL v3 was substituted by TLS.  Perhaps there are some Paypal users using old API's and Paypal started again a change appeal ???

Following on from the above issue:

We have in the last few days installed PayPal Pro as a gateway, it functions OK

Realising that we had no SSL on our hosting site we purchased and installed one successfully. The SSL supports: SSLv3 TLSv1 TLSv1.1 TLSv1.2

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
