How to override theme module .tpl file

Is there any way to modify a themes tpl in override (without touching core theme files)?

 

For example, how can I modify the following file in override -  themes/default-bootstrap/modules/blockcms/blockcms.tpl

 

I have been looking around all over the place for this and would be amazed if this is still not possible in Prestashop.

Why would you need such thing? That .tpl file is already overriding that module's smarty template.

SO I can update my theme without losing changes to the files.

You shouldn't work on default-bootstrap theme, you should clone this theme and modify this copied theme.

I guess the nicest and most suitable solution for prestashop would be to implement a Wordpress-like child-theme, whereby the childtheme only has the overridden files in, and these do not get updated when the theme is refreshed.

not being able to ovverride smarty in ps is 'barbaric'.  One can only add feature not 'tune' or 'tune out' different aspects in front office.
