misty
Hi Brandonc503,If the URLs are the same and you just changed the descriptions, you can refresh your sitemap and even notify google the sitemap has changed in your google webmaster tools. misty
Oops you shouldn't have switched the URLs that way, it's a very bad idea, I've done that in the past and learned the hard way unfortunately...If you can't go back to the old URLs and the old item numbers, your only chance to keep your rank on google is to map the old URLs to the new ones. You have to do 301 redirects only, they are the only ones that tell search engines that old URLs have been moved permanently to the new ones.It can be a lot of work to do the rules (in the .htaccess file) but trust me it's the only way to go, because old URLs don't change rapidly, it takes months to disappear ; also if you don't do 301 redirects you will loose all the ranks of the old URLs.Don't submit a new sitemap before you make all the redirects.Be aware that the new URLs and the old ones are considered as duplicate content and so the new ones won't appear because they have a lower rank. misty
when you say submit a sitemap.. you mean make one in prestashop and upload to google? or just create in ps and have in your directory? If you don't have it uploaded in the google webmaster tools account (or you don't have the location in the robots.txt) then google won't find it. misty
and if i do the 303 .. will that permanantly fix it in google or will i have to be forwarded permantly? No, the 301 is the only code to use in this case :http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93633
misty
If you want an example of a rule to put in your htaccess file (put your rules BEFORE prestashop rules) :RewriteRule ^114-bottle$ /catalog/950-bottle [R=301,L]

Yes it's with a google account. The sitemap will not remove the old URLs. Also if you remove them all their ranking value will be lost, if you rely only on your new URLs it's the same as if you started a new site, so be careful.I don't know the reason why you changed the item numbers and URLs, are you sure you can't go back to the old ones ? if you can't, the 301 redirects are the only recommended solution.
