1.5.3.1 - Default mobile theme - producs not showing in parent directory when subcategory exist

Running Prestashop 1.5.3.1 with default themes and we are experiencing problems dispalying products correctly using the default mobile theme. 

 

The problem we have is that none of the products in the parent categories is visable in the mobile theme if there is a subcategory in the same category. The products in the subcategory show up as they should.

 

Same thing goes for catergories without any subcategories in these cases all products show as intended. This problem is only related to mobile theme everything else in the shop is working fine.

 

Up until now we have not used the mobile theme due to these problems but as Google is starting to use mobile compability as this as one criterias for page ranking this is getting crucial for us to fix.

 

Any help to shed some light on what's causing this and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
