Graphical representation of structure?

Hi,

I want to understand more about how PrestaShop is structured. By that I mean, I'd like to know what files link to what files, to what data, to what file displays what. (For instance, I am about to pose another question here in the PrestaShop forum on how to simply change the background colors on the header and the footer.) I might have a better idea of where to look, if there were some type of graphical representation of the processes and files, and therefore wouldn't need to ask my many questions.

Maybe a flow-chart could be created of the structure from front-end "you open the page" through CSS, JS, Modules, to Themes, etc. I open index.php in my store, what goes to where, when.

Has anyone ever tried to map this out before? Can it be done? (I would try do it, but as you can see I have neither the experience or knowledge)
