Guest
When I run on webpagetest.org I get 10-14s TTFB on first load, and 1.4s on subsequent refreshes. I get the same results on my own browsers. Debug profiling doesn't really help because it is a TTFB issue and most of the time the profiling looks fine. I've tried disabling all modules. I use PS 1.6.0.9 and enabled the hotfix available that I found re: slow FO/BO. Any ideas?
tuk66
What's wrong? The first load is always longer. PrestaShop can compile all templates as well as you can have a large number of calls (images, styles) on the page. Can you share the URL?
Guest
Thanks for the response tuk, really appreciate it! The url is shopiwillbringchange.com I can understand being longer on the first load, but 10-14s seems a little long? We only have 1 product and category. It sometimes happens even on subsequent loads that are not the first load but it is sporadic and not easily reproducible and not so long but around 4-5s. We are on shared host, could that be the primary reason? Edited March 26, 2015 by Guest (see edit history)
tuk66
I loaded the home page. It took around 5 s (6am). shopiwillbringchange.com - TTFB 0.4 s en/ - TTFB 2.5 s (6 kB) ...css - TTFB 0.2 s It looks like your server is "slow" on PHP or MySQL. It must be even worse within rush hours. -------- Edit: Compare these times with my site at a shared hosting www.presta-addons.com - TTFB 0.2 s en/ - TTFB 0.7 s (20 kB) ...css - TTFB 0.04 s Edited March 27, 2015 by tuk66 (see edit history)
Guest
Hi tuk, Thanks for taking a look at that for me. It's odd, we are using Site5 which I thought was a fairly reputable company at least for shared hosting. Is this something I should be complaining about? What can I even ask? I've been talking to their support but they basically just keep giving me the runaround.
tuk66
I would leave them. Hostings are like shifting sands. One day everything is all right and after several weeks your server is overloaded.
