1-Click Upgrade - 30 minutes and still waiting

I've been trying to upgrade my PS to .14, and finally got the 1-Click Upgrade sorted out and processing without creating a backup of 13000 files...

 

Now I have gone through the process again to upgrade to PS .14 and I'm still waiting after 30 minutes of the Currently Processing thing spinning.

 

It says All files upgraded. Now upgrading database... in the first box, and Copied /webservice/index.php. in the second box, but it's not doing anything after half an hour.

 

How long am I supposed to give this thing before I give up? There doesn't seem to be any progress indicator to tell me whether everything is going okay or whether there's an error.

 

I can't afford to leave my shop in maintenance mode for a week while I try to figure out this problem.

 

This is why I hate updating anything. Instead of just updating the single files we need to update we're given a whole package of nonsense that makes things 100 x more complicated.

 

I've just read in another thread that ONLY THREE FILES actially needed to be updated. If I'd known this (ie, if PS had stated this) I would have just made these changes rather than risk my entire site being screwed and offline.

That's why I always test such a dangerous actions locally. You never know what will happen.

 

If you can, install a copy on your local server and test it with very large timeout and memory limitations.
