Product Default Attribute set to none / blank

I am looking for a way to set the default value of an product to blank, and force the customer to choose, rather than setting a default.

 

E.g. instead of setting a default color for a product, force the customer to choose one, and that way make sure the customer is aware that he has chosen a specific color.
