the_el_man
Hi, I did the 1 Click upgrade, everything said all was OK. However upon F5in, I received Link to database cannot be established: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2054] The server requested authentication method unknown to the client Any ideas what my options are to either fix or how to revert? Thanks
spanishcivilwarstamps
Did you make a manual backup of all files and database? If you did so, you can revert with an FTP client and CPanel for the database restoration.

spanishcivilwarstamps
This means that there has been an incompatibility which was introduced in the authentication layer due to the upgrade. In simpler terms, this is a small incompatiblity in the way your password is stored in the MySQL system. The easiest way to solve this is to login to your cPanel control panel, click on the "MySQL Databases" icon, scroll down to the end of the page and delete the database username which you're having problems with. Once you do that, simply create the user again with the same exact information once again and it will be created with the updated system. Once you're done, make sure you also give access to the new username for your existing database. Your website should be loading with no problems afterwards. And if this fails, you can wait for a better sollution or to spend 24 hours restoring your previous version through FTP.

Didn't work unfortunately. Do you think changing the db details are worth a shot?
