keitaro
I had a test server but it was not a complete copy of my current site. was just a black store with the same theme and i used to test upgrade is smooth etc. I delete it and the test Database. I then made a full copy of my current site into test location. Then got the current real store db and tried to import into a new test db but it fails. I figured it was too large and just retrying would resume last position etc. Still after about 30 retries it`s failing to import takes a long time then fails. Am i right in assuming i should be able to create a new test db same version php as current db and just import the back up? then redirect the config file in test directory to point to test data base? If not what should i be doing to make an identical copy? thanks
NemoPS
Yes, you are correct, you can simply create a new one, import and bind prestashop
bellini13
how large is your database? and where are you creating your test store (localhost using wamp? or on the same server as your live store?)
keitaro
hello it`s about 11mb in size. I used the free data base cleaner and retried using a smaller cleaned one same issue. I am using under the same server as my offical site but on a secondary domain. Thanks
bellini13
perhaps you can reach out to your hosting provider and ask them for assistance in copying your existing database to a new database. usually cpanel has this option, and you do not need to perform an export/import
SLiCK_303
instead of using phpmyadmin, use comand line to import your database. Another solution is to clear your logs, in an attempt to make your db smaller.
