php mail doesnt work

Hello, i want to run prestashop on my hostmonster hosting and have problems with prestashop mail. There are two possiblities of mail sending.

1) php mail - if I understand this right i don't have to adjust any setting to make this work but when i try to send test mail it doesn't work (no error or something but mail doesn't arrive)
2) use mail through preset smtp server so i made a new mail in my hostmonster administration and set the settings into prestashop but no luck (tried both not encrypted and SSL)

So I ask is there anything I have to set in hostmonster administration or do I have to set something special in prestashop backoffice.

Hi , i have the same exactly problem, on hostmonster, did you resolve the problem???

I'm trying to install prestashop on a hostmonster site and when it gets to the screen to set up smtp settings, I've tried all kinds of stuff from changing from no encryption to SSL, port 25, port 26, port 465, etc... nothing worked.
