HarryCom
Hi, use PrestaShop 1.5.6.2, advise me to upgrade to PrestaShop ™ 1.6.0.13? Apart from the new dashboard and graphics back-end, which features should entice them to upgrade? The system is more stable? I'll be honest, I really like PrestaShop, but unlike other CMS (no e-commerce), is the only one where I see sometimes defects, sometimes do not count the cost of shipping, sometimes no payment through PayPal, in short, random problems. Because I do not update as much, the latest version solves these instabilities? Thanks!
jscustom
While I can't comment on an older version like yours, mine auto updated to 1.6.0.12 a couple of days ago, then 1.6.0.13 this morning... I have since reverted back to 1.6.0.11 as 1.6.0.12 and .13 had added stupid default theme images to the categories in the top horizontal menu module and I could not work out how to remove them, and it also broke Paypal Express payments. Keep getting error 10426. It also changed my location or zone and added taxes when I had them all disabled, and no matter what I tried, it kept reverting everything back to US. No good seeing as I am in Australia as are the majority of my customers. 1.6.0.11 was running fine for me, no errors etc. Although I had to do a fair bit of playing around with some .tpl files to get things like the paypal express checkout logo and associated text to sit where I wanted it on the page. bellini13
If you want to upgrade, I would stick to PS v1.6.0.9 until the newer versions have their issues worked out.
HarryCom
OK! From 1.5.6.2 to 1.6.0.9, what are the main improvements?
markaussie
My opinion to your question NO and it introduces more instabilities and bloat. Sorry, but have used Prestashop for over 2 Years now and is a constant headache if you upgrade to the latest releases. (That's why so many people still run PS1.4) Prestashop has so much potential, my favourite for features but always sorting out issues rather than running your shop. On my Test Site Recent simple example - 1.6.0.12 released - next day 1.6.0.13 (Stable? released) use 1Click-Upgrade to apply 1.6.0.13 and you guest it - it fails upgrade. Modules get updated - What's updated? - Just a simple note from Prestashop so the users can see what has changed would be so helpful. Major issues - Yes many and a lot from years ago still not fixed. You will probably have issues upgrading from 1.5.6.2, let alone using it. Highly suggest play with it on a TEST setup, see if upgrade fails and operation etc. I'm so close to cutting my losses and many hours and $$$$$ I've spent on Prestashop addon's (a issue in itself) and spend my time and $ moving to a new Platform which will have issues, just not as many. Sad day for me Edited February 26, 2015 by markaussie (see edit history)
