rfourt
Hello people, wonder if someone could help me find or have a similar problem.(First. I allow my customers to order products that are out of stock.) So is there anyone who knows of a module or hack that would display to the customer what product are out of stock in the "On Backorder" email that is sent out. Example: A customer orders 2 red apples (that are out of stock) and 1 Lemon. Customer pays Customer gets first email. "Order Confirmation"Customer gets second email. "Payment Successfull" Customer gets thrid email. "On Backorder" <------------- THERE.In this third email "On Backorder" the message is only that "SOME" of your products are out of stock. But it dosnt say wich. Why is this? Why not display that the 2 red apples are out of stock but the Lemon is in stock. Most shops that allow orders for products that are out of stock, ship the other products that ARE in stock and then when the 2 red apples are back in stock ship them in a separate package. Perhaps not all do it this way but the problem now is- The customers ALWAYS either call, send an email or contact us by livechat. We love the customer contact but it costs valuable time from you as a shop owner when this could just been stated in the order status email "On Backorder" and the customer wouldent have to contact support. This also could potentially bring more upsells as the customers then add a new order for 2 green apples instead.. So anyone?Hax, hack, trix, or module??Ive been trying to search and even had some bad experiance in the prestashop livechat trying to find an answer to this question but all my google searches ends up in forums who talks about "Notify when out of stock emaillists" or "sign up to know when back in stock" etc etc etc.Have a great day./Rick Edited February 23, 2015 by rfourt (see edit history)
selectshop.at
What I did to solve the problem: there is a feature you can set, send products in stock immediately. If customer check this than all what I have in stock I send immediately after payment. Other products are back ordered. In my case I also changed the mail which is going out after purchase. Customer only receive a copy of his order, but the mail with backordered is omitted. For to put this all into work, I added to all products (and this is crucial!) a delivery text when in stock and when out of stock. This text I activated on the product.tpl (variable is available there, but commented). Furthermore the delivery time is showing on the cart, so customer knows by order placing that product a) is immediately available and product b ) only in some days. He than can choose if he wait for the whole order or will receive in stock products first and the remaining in a second shipment. I hope this help you to solve your problem. Good luck! rfourt
Thanks for the reply.yea ive seen this feature in 1.6 and its a nice one although it forces the customers to interact one more time and also is a block in "Go to pay" procedure that i dont like. But not a bad idea anyway. But to just see it from a customer point of view, i would anyway if i was on a shop and wanted to buy that product and just before i was going to make the payment saw that this product is out of stock go to another shop that has the product in stock.Im not tricking my customers or anything like that as in my shop its clearly visable on the product page that the product is out of stock but customers tend to not see that and just hit the "add to cart button" anyway. And to then highlight just before payment is made i think is bad "Go To Pay" procedure. But i guess it all depends on what ure selling, wich country you are in and how much competition you have. Thnx anyway.I would actually pay someone for a feature/module like this so i will see here if i get some other responses otherwise ill go to Freelancer. Cheers.
