Naldinho
I tried upgrading from 1.6.0.9 to 1.6.0.11. Doing so seemed to work fine but the template was missing some design elements. I tried to fix that by switching to the default template then to switch back to the template I am using. That didn't fix it. My second idea was to uninstall and then re-install the template. That made it worse so that now the installed template is a blank page but when I switch back to default site works. Switch back to new template and I have a blank page. I have restored the site from a backup and will try again in a few hours but before I waste my time I figured I'd ask if all 1.6 templates are compatible with 1.6.0.11. kulli
no, you have to contact the devoleper of your theme to solve that
NemoPS
I suggest you give it a shot anyway, there shouldn't be such a huge difference between the 2 versions, so turn on error reporting and see what the error is
Naldinho
The template claims to be 1.6.0.11 compatiable on the PrestaShop theme store. I tried it on a fresh install 1.6.0.11 install on localhost and the design elements that don't work in my hosted install work on localhost although installation took at lot of messing around to get it to stop showing the error. The error is being generated because if I try to install the theme using the PrestaShop backoffice the theme directory in themes has only one file which is obvious a problem. I had to manually copy the theme, img, and modules over to get it to sort of work. I tried to do an upgrade on the hosted site and that failed so I decided to just delete the public_html directory and upload the clone of public_html I made last week but now even the clone is having display issue with graphic elements missing like they are when I did the upgrade. Obviously something changed in the database. I can have the database restored to previous state but since this store has almost no work done I'm tempted to just do a clean install of PrestaShop and start over. What I don't get is why the PrestaShop backoffice theme install is not working -- I think if I could figure that out this problem would resolve itself. NemoPS
It can be anything. The most common reason for it are broken modules, if you are installing them as well when activating the theme. You can try leaving the working ones, then install one by one and see where it breaks. See if it works by activating the template alone.
Naldinho
Thank you for the assistance. I was eventually able to work. I'd share how for the benefit of others except I'm not really sure how I did it. I did a manual instal without importing the sample data and that did it. Importing the sample data was damaging the database -- specifically something with tax was getting corrupted by the sample data import.
