Few details on Final vs. SVN please.

Recommended Posts

so i realize that the final version out now is 1.2.5 final. but in news letters it says that the 1.3.0.1 is out now.. is that just the SVN that is 1.3.0.01?
must I use the SVN for testing and install the final for actuall use?
what if there is fix in the SVN version that i need. should i install final then find the little fix in SNV and make the change to my final verson.. or should i just install the SVN if there are any fixes i want?
would i ever want to use the new SVN's sql database updates if i dont use the SNV files on server, but the final files insted?

I can't see in the newsletter where is says that v1.3.0.1 is available. I see only a link "Check the SVN version", which links to the download page where only Prestashop v1.2.5 final is available.

The SVN version should be used for testing purposes only. For live stores, the last final release should be used. You can copy fixes from the SVN to your v1.2.5 installation. Then you know that upgrading your database will be supported.

I'm using it on my test site. Other than tax improvements, new payment modules and Prestastore integration, it is mostly a bug fix release. It doesn't appear to break v1.2 themes and modules. I wouldn't say that it is stable though. I've already reported a few bugs. I suggest that you install it in a test environment and see if anything on your site breaks. It should not be used on a live site.
