How to increase the top search box width in 1.6 module.

 

If i am trying to increase the width  from css of block search, in repsonsive look it is giving vertical scrolling .

 

and if i am trying to change the

<div class="col-sm-4 clearfix" id="search_block_top">

to

<div class="col-sm-5 clearfix" id="search_block_top"> 

 

from module  block _top_search .tpl

 

its not changing the width of the search block.

 

Please help me out of this
