every page is blank?!

Recommended Posts

Hi I installed the latest version of PrestaShop in December. I haven't logged into the admin area or visited the store in a couple of week. Today I tried to access the store, admin area, anything but nothing is happening. Every single page is blank white. I have no idea what is going on. Anybody have any ideas?

Look for the file errorlog in Prestashop's root directory on your remote server. Download it and copy the error message here. If you can't find it, try modifying config/config.php and changing 'display_errors' from 'off' to 'on'. When you refresh your shop, there should be an error message.

There was no errorlog file and my config folder was missing (???) so I re-uploaded it and I'm now getting an error saying:
Error: 'install' directory is missing

Does this mean I have to re-install or is it saying this because the config file is from the original zip file and is pre-install?

I didn't do anything so I'm confused as to why I may have to re-install. Just to see what would happen, I uploaded the install folder and when I browse to the store the install screen shows up and wants to do a clean install. What could have happened here?

It sounds like your config folder was inadvertently deleted. In the config folder is settings.inc.php, which contains all your database and cookie settings to allow Prestashop to function. If that file was deleted and you can't restore it, I don't think you have any choice but to reinstall Prestashop.

I had exactly the same problem and just re-uploaded the config folder to the server. Everything is back to normal. However my copy was a recent backup from the server (not the original prestashop version).
