New versions

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I finally decided to try out PS 1.2.5, but then I though Hey, what if there's a new version coming soon?
I tried to search the forums and also looked through the PS web but found no information whatsoever on when next version is about to come, or if there's a plan for releases, like a minor every three months and a major every year or something similar.
So, do anyone know of the plans for new versions? And is this kind of information available somewhere?

Thanks,

/Mats

Prestashop doesn't provide any information about release dates anymore. I don't think we'll have to wait very long for the public alpha testing of Prestashop v1.3, but no-one can give an estimate of when it will be. You can always check the SVN to prepare for the changes when the next version of Prestashop is released.

The SVN is marked as version 1.3.0.1. So the next release will likely be a buggy Alpha version in early February or so.

I'm a bit disappointed as there are many bugs in version 1.2.5, and it does not make much sense to plow ahead into a new Alpha when you already have an unstable base. The developers seem to be on some kind of schedule where one time a year there is a new full release - it would probably be better and easier for all parties involved (devs and users) to spread out releases to a year and a half, and create a solid, mostly bug free codebase before pushing forward. With this current pace, the code will always be very buggy.

My two cents.

1.2.5 was a security update only......and if you read the french forum, 1.3 will have many bug fixes that the presta team are aware of. They have been working on the bugs, if you look through the svn. So that it will be a stable release and they are working hard to at it!!

For a free ecommerce solution, I think it's better than some of the paid ones and bigger ones! Out of the box!!

Just my opinion ...of course :)
