How do you change the background color of the BREADCRUMB trail

As the question says. I have used Firebug and it points me to the class="breadcrumb", but when I change or add the background-color: #xxxxx - in does not do anything i.e change the background color.

Ideas?

change this one:

background-color: #FFFF99;
}

You can add padding also.

It's line 654 on my global.css file
