kingjc
Hi, My site is kinda slow, im using prestashop 1.4.5.1 I want to enable optimization option (This will add directives to your .htaccess file which should improve caching and compression.) this one. But before couple of months I generated htaccess file to enable friendly URL. If i turn the optimization option now and regenerate htaccess it will overwrite my old htaccess, will that affect to my URLs. Im asking because my site is hosted on a server where i dont have access and I cant make a copy of my htaccess file. Thank you for your reply. El Patron
turning on the apache optimization will not affect your friendly url. When you say you don't have access, do you not have ftp and/or hosting control panel file access?
the.rampage.rado
No it will just add the optimization lines. Please not to firstly backup your .htaccess file so if there's conflict with the new settings and the way your server is configured you can quickly undo your fixes. kingjc
Thank you guys. My site is hosted by my brother in law on a server where they have other important things and i dont have ftp access, every time when i need something i have to ask him to do it for me and most of the times i get ignored. So i just regenerated the htaccess file with the optimization turned on, everything is fine, the urls are ok. But.. i still get only 50 points on pagespeed insights. It says that i need to compress the images, can i do that without access to the server? I saw a module named Smush Optimize Image, is it worth buying? http://casebg.net that is my site, any help will be great!! Thanks again!
