kfy
After importing my categories I can not see them, but get the message instead: Your .CSV file has been successfully imported into your shop. Don't forget to re-build the products' search index. Doesw anybody know, how I can do this re-build? thanks
razaro
You need to go in back office to Preferences > Search and there you can re-build index. Plus there is link for cron job that will do auto indexing for you.
kfy
thanks for the hint, which I did now (and had done before). Unfortunately I can still not see my imported categories. The csv-import was confirmed successfully, but the list is still empty. I assume they must be there, because if a create a new category manually it get the number 15 (I've imported 3-14). Any hint about this problem? thanks!
razaro
Do you have multiple languages in store ? Also check directly in database, tables ps_category and ps_category_lang, if you think they are created. For info, what is your Prestashop version? kfy
yes I do use 2 languages. I couldn't find them in none. I'm using the cloud with PrestaShop™ 1.6.0.11. Both tables exports (ps_category and ps_category_lang) look empty to me. The weird thing is that: - Only the first 3 imported (invisible in the back office) categories are shown in the front office top-menu. - the products (some of them fake products from the installation) are associated with all the categories I uploaded. Not only the first 3. - If I try to edit the categories in the products I always get only 3 categories to choose from. Depending of the product, there are always different 3 categories offered. razaro
How does your category csv looks like? Did you force id maybe when importing? Note you should see in database, with phpMyadmin for example, that there are at least two categories Root with id 1 and Home with id 2.
kfy
thanks, I think we are getting closer. Yes, I did forced the ID. After your hints I uploaded the categories with both languages and they became visible at last. ID 1 and 2 can not be changed as I can see. Could somebody maybe tell me what the difference between the root-category and the home-category is? thank you
razaro
Root category is main one for single shop, as Prestashop have multi-shop option. Home category is subcategory of root and contain every other category plus it is important as it holds featured products.
