MeowsTheTime
I have finally decided to upgrade my Prestashop to the most current version. After researching the topic, I've completed my backups via myPHP, etc. I'm comfortable with that.... I wanted to use the "1-Click Upgrade" however, my "1-Click" is not the most current version ....so I have downloaded the new autobackup file and am going to replace it but before I go through all of this trouble, will it even let me upgrade when I get to that step? Most of the tutorials out there are from the more current than 1.4.9.0 and of course the screens are far from the same but mine didn't give me the option to upgrade after I got all the Check boxes....???? bellini13
I have used autoupgrade module to upgrade from PS v1.4 to v1.6, so yes it should work properly. I always suggest making a test copy of the store, and running the upgrade on the test store first. This allows you to deal with the other issues you are likely going to encounter, and resolve them BEFORE breaking your store. Thumbs up for having a backup, but make sure you know how to restore from the back up. Using a backup of both the database and the website content to create your test store, also ensures you know how to restore from the backup
applecart_girl
I tried and failed several times when upgrading my 1.4 PS store. I agree with bellini13 you MUST have a test site to do this without breaking your store. I've never been able to successfully setup a test site, so yesterday I tried to upgrade from 1.6.0.9 - 1.6.11 on my working site and BAM ... BROKEN! I recommend anyone with any concerns about upgrading themselves to checkout http://www.whitefirdesign.com/services/web-software-upgrades.html Dodgy looking website, but amazing service given by John and team. They really no their stuff and upgraded my 1.4.0.7 store to 1.6.11. Only issues we had were with my old hosting service at Crazy Domains, which couldn't handle the new PS software, so I moved the upgraded over to Blue Host VPS and wa-lah PS 1.6.0.9 working like a dream Good luck with the upgrade MeowsTheTimes!
