wildchief
Dear Forum,I am in the process of migrating a small OSCommerce site to prestashop. From my understanding prestashop is okay out of the box for SEO - however I have seen two modules on prestastore which appear/claim to improve SEOOne is reasonably affordable for mehttp://www.prestastore.com/back-office-tools/352-backend-tools-seo-lite.htmlthe second a little more expensive for my little shophttp://www.prestastore.com/back-office-tools/175-backend-tools-seo.htmlDoes any one know what these modules do and can the same be achieved with some manually with a little extra work ?Thank youDavid
tomerg3
They let you populate all the meta info automatically from one place (as opposed to manually for each product / category).Prestashop already fills those up for you, but it using very basic info (like just the products name or category name)
wildchief
thank for the answer. Well for my small shop that might not be necessary. One question though - can i create static urls for my site - so i can copy existing urls from my existing OScommerce across?Something like www.mysite.com/myoldstoreurl.htm~CheersDave
tomerg3
You won't be able to do that, since prestashop keeps the id or the product / category in the address. You could create a 301 redirect in you htaccess file to redirect the old address to the new prestashop address for that product / category. Also I have made a very good SEO module that redirects all duplicate pages in prestashop (http://www.presto-changeo.com/prestashop-modules/25-duplicate-url-redirect.html)
wildchief
thanks i might check that out. $25 is a more sensible price for a module IMHO.
tomerg3
I try to price my modules based on how long it took me to write them, how productive they are for a store, and I also consider the rest of the module market. As you may notice, none of my modules are over $100, and I also offer 3 free ones, with a forth one coming later today. The only reason to pay a high price for a module, is if it increases your sales by more than what it costs...Cheers.
