Country id by Geo-ip

I have activated Geo-ip. But now I want to get the country id by geo-ip in the templates. For example: with: {$sl_country} I get the id of the default country. But how can I get the id of the geo location?

you activated native PrestaShop Geo Location? if yes, then read on

 

1) be careful when you have enabled native PrestaShop Geo Location, geolitecity.dat is 85% accurate at the best of times.  why is this important to note? if IP is not in .dat file then that customer will be denied shopping.

2) if you choose to use native geo location, then you can set a countries currency as follows back office-->localization-->country-->edit a country-->set their default currency

as for what the id is depends on the template, but the country is stored in the cookie post geolitecity.dat look up.  if you are only getting the id of the default country, this probably is a result that IP did not resolve.
