changing default language into English although shop is based in Spain

HI, we just started developing our site, but as we are in Spain, Spanish comes automatically as default language, and there seems to be no way to change it into English? We would need to start our site in English only for the moment, is there a way to modify it?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Our shop default language is Spanish, I assume because we opened our shop from Spain, but we need to have English as our default language, not Spanish. If Spanish remains our default language we have to do everything, from front page to each product description first in Spanish before we can translate it into English. We need to eliminate Spanish for the moment and keep only English, but we cannot see where to change the default language, and we cannot eliminate Spanish because it is the default language. Is there a way to modify it and have English as default language, even if we are in Spain?

In localization, you have to change the default language. And then, in Localization / language, you can disable the spanish language, like here:

it's important to remember that ps will read the http_accept_language for visitor language passed from visitor browser.

 

so let's say you browser is es-es, then it will detect this and display /es/

 

if you want to see English, then add or move en language to top of your preferred browser languages, clear cookie and then re-visit.

 

the default language is then only used if the first http_accept_language is not defined to your shop, let's say pl for polish, then it will revert to your default language  as defined in back office.

 

so set the default language to the one you think will be better received on non-es browser language.
