(Answered) Why GD Library?

Recommended Posts

I like Open Source software. I use it (and contribute too) most of the time. But in my many too many weeks searching for a shopping cart program that I can use with my already existing site and it's layout, all the carts are the same - they all (as well as this one) require GD Library in my PHP. WHY? I like this shopping cart, I have a good feeling about it. And yet, I can't use it. I don't control the server, and re-doing our server's PHP is out of the question, according to the person who does.

I'm about to switch everything to HTML, even as archaic as the language is compared with most pages on the net today. What is so special about GD Library, and what (if anything) is it going to do for me? Man, I'm really frustrated.

Thank you for the reply. Your English translation was fine, too

I did manage to obtain a php_gd2.dll library, and convinced our IT department to install it after all. While I generally spend the time to handle my own imaging, I like how it works in Presta after all. It will save me a lot of time.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply and explain some of what GD does.
