71newyorker
Hi everyone he then upgraded it from 1.4.7 to 1.6.0.11 and it's working on the subdomain great. He did this about 2 weeks ago. Since then we've been making some layout and navigation changes to the subdomain test website. Our goal is to make the test subdomain website 100% exactly the way we want it and then transfer it from the test subdomain to the main live url. THE PROBLEM - when the test subdomain is ready he will be moving it from the subdomain to the live main url, but the database of orders and customers on the test suddomain is 3 weeks old, so it's missing all customers, orders, stock movements for the last 3 weeks. Q) How can we get all the orders/customers/stock movements from live url for the last 3 weeks and transfer that data to our test subdomain website so that when we transfer the subdomain website to the live URL we wont be missing 3 weeks worth of information? Any information is much appreciated. Many thanks. james Edited February 11, 2020 by 71newyorker (see edit history)
cantcloseaccount
I'm no [spam-filter] but if the one click upgrade worked, my steps would be: 1. I would export the theme from the dev shop (subdomain) when your happy with it, 2. take a backup of the site 3. Put the live shop into maintenance 4. upgrade the live shop via one click upgrade and import the new theme 5. Test it, then turn maintenance mode off. Otherwise, use a service like "cart to cart" to populate orders across from the live site to the dev site and move the files and database across. Inserting new orders in the database is very tricky. Would be awesome if it was easier...
Mister Denial
I have the same issues as the OP. I am currently preparing a migration form 1.6.0.9 to 1.6.1 and want to add a new theme. Is there a better way to move a test site into production and keep your current orders up-to-date?
