Deleting cache, it is 15GB!

I have a prestashop webshop and he WAS very very slow. And the total using GB on my diskspace is 15GB!

I have the prestoshop version 1.6.0.9.

 

I make the shop faster trough change the cache.

Under performance, on the bottom was selected Use cache YES and then filesystem.

Now i have selected NO and the webshop is really faster! It worked!

 

Also, on the top of the performance page you can click on 'empty Cache'. Zo i did, but i think it is another cache because the total size of my webshop is stil 15GB!

 

How can i remove the cache by myself?

 

I read a lot that people say: remove from the cache folders all content except index.php.

But how can i do this?

There are so many many folders!

Is there a way to do it at once?

Try manually emptying the content of cache/smarty/cache and cache/smarty/compile

But that is my problem, i don't know how.

When i must do it manually, every folder/file by myself, it take hours, maybe longer.

Is there not a faster way to do it?

To delete all the cache files?

But i can't delete index.php in every folder right?

? You just have to delete the folder and let your ftp do the rest on its own. Or, if you have ssh access, you can try this on those https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/ssh/ssh_deleting.htm

I must delete this folder:

 

cache/smarty/cache

 

And:

 

cache/smarty/compile

 

The whole folder AND all files in it? Also the index.php??

 

I read everywhere that people say not the index.php and such..

You don't want to delete the folder, just all the files in the folder.  Then just replace the index.php file

 

Use an FTP client like FileZilla, you can simply select all the files and click delete.

I am really sorry, my English is not good but this is my problem:

But in these 2 folders:

cache/smarty/cache

cache/smarty/compile

 

Are a lot of subfolders.

Do i need to keep all these subfolders?

Or can i just delete all the subfolders and all the files inside?

 

And i need to replace every index.php file in every folder?

 

I am afraid that all what i do is ruin my webshop, i am sorry for that many questions but i want to make sure i do nothing wrong!

You want to delete all the folders and files under the following folders.  just leave an index.php in the cache and compile folder

cache/smarty/cache
cache/smarty/compile

cache/smarty/compile/index.php
