This is a message from Maggie, Samyha and Xavier, your Community Managers. First, we want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of the most active Ecommerce forum in the world! As you may have noticed, we’ve made some changes to the layout of the PrestaShop official forum. We would like to explain these changes and give you a heads-up on other forum improvements coming soon.
With more than 700,000 members and an average 2,500 simultaneously online visitors, our Community forum is an amazing place for sharing tips, fixing issues together, asking questions and helping each other. It is also a great channel for module and theme developers to feature and promote their work in the dedicated sub-forums that you can find in 15 different language forums.
Unfortunately, We noticed that more and more developers subscribe to the forum with the sole purpose of advertising their modules and themes while sharing links to their own commercial websites. This commercial use of the forum does not match with PrestaShop mission for a helpful and fair Community.
When rethinking the forum layout, we noticed that many of you were active on both your native language forum and the English forum. We decided to create a main forum combining two aspects of the Community life: a general section and a technical one, both in English. The General section includes a sub-forum in which anyone can promote the modules and themes they sell (in English and in compliance with the forum rules, which were not modified). This General section is the only place on the forum where starting topics about paid modules and themes will be allowed.
Other non-English speaking forums remain unchanged, apart from the “Paid modules & themes” sub-forums, which you will be able to access, read, and download from, but not post in. If you posted a module of yours on one of these sub-forums in the past, we recommend that you take advantage of the strength and visibility of the General forum and share your creations there in English.
If you are involved in the community and would like to be a moderator, please let us know. It’s a pleasure to receive such requests from you, and we’ll be happy to read your private messages.
