How do I switch the database for a new install

Hi,

 

I' trying to install Prestashop on a new server wich doesn't have auto installation of Prestashop.

I created a database and it is ok, i get the message "Database is connected", but when I go to the next step I get the message "Create settings.inc file" and the installation stops.

 

I tried different solutions found on this forum but none workef and my provider says he cannot change the php.ini file...

 

So I thought maybe I will copy an older installation from another server and connect it to the database I created on the new server.

 

Can I do that? How do I assign the new database to the installation I copied from another server?

No error spawning in the browser console? There might be one as result of the ajax call. It might as well be a permission issue

 

If you want to go your way, in any case, you must add your credentials to config/settings.inc.php

The error in my browser is 

1. Create settings.inc file

An error occurred during installation...

You can use the links on the left column to go back to the previous steps, or restart the installation process by clicking here.

And there is no settings.inc in my config folder.

I already set permission 777 to all the files, just to try. I get the same message...

 

Why is this file not created?

Yes, but that's telling us the bare minimum. Have a look at the console (f12), network tab, there is an ajax call, or multiple, just check the last one

I gave up with this installation, it it's taking too much time.

I'm currently looking for a hosting wich offers auto-installation of Prestashop.
