Asaf B
So I bought a new domain for a test to my store. Copied all the files VIA filzilla FTP and the database to the new domain and changed the files names like the explenation here: http://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/set-up-a-test-server-for-your-online-store/ But when I am trying to connect to my control panel of prestashop - it appears as 404. And as well as when I am trying to access the website itself. What went wrong? Do I need to install prestashop VIA cPanel and only then copy the files and connect to the database? or what? Thank you all. Asaf
NemoPS
Did you erase and regenerate the the .htaccess file?
Asaf B
mmm I deleted, but how can I creat it if I don't have access to my admin panel?
NemoPS
still 404? if so, you might be accessing the wrong url. Are you sure you uploaded to the correct folder?
Asaf B
yea this is the correct folder. But When I am trying to install prestashop VIA cPanel (goDaddy) and choosing to import database it tells me that the details are wrong. How do I find the password & username for my database? NemoPS
ouch... goGranny. Bad choice You should only be importing the database normally with phpmyadmin after creating it (database wizard). Asaf B
O.k Got it. I managed to install Prestashop with the same version VIA cPanel installer and connected my database to it. But now I still can't see any of my products & categories. Do I need to override the prestashop regular install files with the files from my live website? NemoPS
THey should be stored in the database, but if you installed it anew you will never get access to the previous ones. Are you sure you connected your old db? You shouldn't need to override anything. Ah, goGranny does it again
