Bains
First, let me make it clear that I am a novice/newbie in this area. I had version 1.5.xx installed by my ISP (Hostgator). I elected to upgrade to version 1.6.09. I followed the instructions for tinyMCE to continue using it. My question is why when I look at my installed modules, it does not show. It is obviously there and I can find in the various files.
vekia
hello any chance to see how it looks like? can you make a screenshot? to what modules you're reffering?
Bains
Here is a screen shot -- note that the modules are in alphibitical order and tinyMCE is not there.
vekia
im a little worried that i don't know what you exactly mean by tinyMCE module. you mean that you had module named tinyMCE ? what this module did in your store ?
Bains
Now my newbie status and lack of detailed knowledge comes to the fore. In the prior installation I was given the chance to ‘install’ tinyMCE. When I did install it showed up in the Modules display as installed -- at least that is what I remember. Then I upgraded to PrestoShop 1.6.09. Product descriptions did not look correct – they had the equivalent of HTML tags surrounding the text. Further I could not modify the text and instead got an error display. So I went looking for some causes and found your discussion of how to modify the tinymce.inc.js file and the validate.php file. Made those modifications per the excellent instructions, cleared the cache and now the descriptions look good and there are a variety of format controls available for text items. The Modules display in PrestoShop does not show tinyMCE as installed – see the uploaded screen shot I provided. This absence of the module made me chase around until I remembered I had installed in a prior version and possibly it needed to be updated. And that is what caused me to pose the question. Is it supposed to show up in the Modules listing or is it an integral part of the PrestoShop installation?
Eolia
Open your browser console (f12) and check errors
Bains
No errors for the browser console. At it's simplistic my only question is am I supposed to see tinyMCE in the Modules list if it is installed and apparently working? I apologize since I may be using the incorrect terms and phrases -- again my lack of knowledge and familiarity with the PrestaShop nomenclature is obvious. Let me refine my question… Is tinyMCE a ‘plugin’ or a ‘module’ or part of the installed PrestaShop build? vekia
still need more clarification. you said that you "installed" tinymce before (in earlier version of your shop) you installed it inside "modules" section? if you're asking just about tinyMCE feature - it's a part of prestashop engine, its not a module. Bains
Thank you vekia for the concise answer – that tinyMCE it is an embedded component of the initial install. My recollection was that I ‘installed’ it but obviously my recollection was incorrect. My experience is that nomenclature and language get in the way of many things. As a novice, my use of language and base level understanding was insufficient to properly frame the question. I apologize for any confusion. Another part of my confusion relates to my expectation that the PrestoShop folks would never release a ‘stable’ version when there was such an obvious flaw in a capability that had previously worked. Other sources indicate that this problem was also part of the 1.5.xx release as well. We all understand bugs and issues creep in but most folks have a reasonable set of regression tests that the new release must pass prior to release. Apparently that is not the case for this software suite. Thanks to everyone who helped me understand.
