ezeeozee
I have tried to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 several times, each without success. I've tried through Softaculous and I've tried through 1-click-upgrade. Via Softaculous it stalls at 95% installed, leaving the site messed up or inaccessible. Via 1-click-upgrade everything seems to be installing fine until it is almost done and then this error message appears in the progress window: [Ajax / Server Error for action upgradeFiles] textStatus: "error " errorThrown:"Internal Server Error " jqXHR: " Internal Server ErrorThe server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. I have increased the hosting but the problem persists. My hosting provider is not responsible for Prestashop's failure to function so they do not know what the problem is and will not look for it anyway. In what way could the server be configured incorrectly? Has anyone ever, in the history of the world, been able to upgrade Prestashop without a hitch? At the moment my only option seems to be to start afresh and delete the 1.5 version because upgrading does not work. Any ideas?
El Patron
In all honesty? Upgrading is not good function for shop manager to attempt. You should find competent person with ps upgrade experience that can also configure new theme. Better to be busy selling and reviewing work of pro who can help you realize your goals, selling more. Happy day, el
ezeeozee
If what you say is correct, that the user cannot upgrade a Prestashop - something that ought to be as straightforward as upgrading a Wordpress website - then Prestashop must be the least user friendly shopping cart system on the planet. ezeeozee
You are being insulting rather than helpful. You also did not read what I actually was remarking upon - the ease of upgrade. If you aren't here to help, stop replying to my thread.

HiFish
I found the 1-Click upgrade quite comfortable, compared to a complex CMS like typo3 for example (comparing with wordpress is a bit unfair i think). From an IT point of view its rather simple: you either buy the manpower required for "without a hitch" when buying a fully comercial solution, or you pay some IT guy to invest the hours as needed for a free software solution or you become the IT-guy or -gal yourself (not practical if you are busy running a business). Concerning your problem, i ran into a similar AJAX-Error with my webhoster when testing the upgrade to 1.6, It was caused by the backup-job that runs before the actual update. So, you could try doing an update with disabled backup feature, after doing a manual backup of course. Good Luck with your Update. CrossY
OP has a good point. It clearly states "1click upgrade", which is a module available and accessible for anyone. It continually failing does is bad, and should be fixed in the future. Saying you need PHP skills to use the "1click upgrade" module is nonsense, and poor customer service.
