Walrus
Our current shopping cart allows customers to view in specified currencies but at checkout and beyond it uses the default currency. For example, a customer can view prices in dollars, but will be charged in pounds sterling because that is the default currency of the store. Is this how Prestashop's currency default works or is the currency used to view also used to pay at checkout? Thanks.
bellini13
This may depend on the payment modules you are using. Which ones are they?

bellini13
You will be using, or you are using? Which payment module are you having this issue with? What exact version of Prestashop are you using, and what theme?
Walrus
Will be using. The store's not live. It's not an issue but an attempt to find out how Prestashop handles currencies before going live as the documentation is not clear how it's handled. I would have thought how currencies are handled is down to Prestashop, and not the theme but in case I am mistaken, we are using Flower Store from LeoTheme, and latest Prestashop. bellini13
Ah apologies, I have misread your original post. Prestashop will use the customer's selected currency during checkout, and the payment modules will appear based on how you have defined them. For example, you may choose to allow USD and EUR on your entire website and the customer can switch between them and Prestashop will manage the currency exchange when showing product pricing. Also for example, you may configure to accept USD using Paypal, but EUR for Credit Cards and Prestashop will manage showing the payment methods based on the selected currency. There are also some payment modules that will automatically convert the customer's selected currency, to one that is supported by the Payment provider. That would allow you to display prices in a currency your customer's are familiar with, but take payment in a currency that your payment provider supports. This is an exception to the rule, but they do exist.

Walrus
If you want customers to view in their preferred currency but then charge in the store currency, the 'Force Currency at Checkout' module is perfect for the job.
