How do you remove category number from url?

How do you remove category number from a url for example I have friendly url set up and it looks like this.. http://www.mydomain.com/13-new-car

I want just...

http://www.mydomain.com/new-car

 

I'm looking at SEO & URL's now and at "route to category"

Should I change this? If so what to?

Hi hitgram,

 

To change this url, you have to log in your admin panel. Click on "Preferences >> Seo & Url". Look at the bottom of this page and you'll find the part called "schema of urls".

 

Here, you can change the shape of any url of your website.

 

To remove the id category from url, simply remove the "{id}" from the field called "route to categories".

FYI: you can not remove (id).

 

TIP: there is no issue with category/product ID.  Changing native core PrestaShop is not recommended.  There are module but I can not vouch for them, I'd look at least on offical addon's maybe find something that won't end up destroying your shop.

I am doing a 301 site redirect so the category id is a problem as it complicates the process the inner page url's I need to match the old site
