joricam
Hello, I've been searching the forums and this questions appears several times asked but none solved. I have 2 domains that are country tlds, .pt and .es, I wish to have my Portuguese clients restricted to the .pt and my Spanish clients in the .es, both stores should be the same or at least in the same group (multistore) because the catalogue is the same as so are the quantities, only the content changes depending on geography/domain. I also need the store to automaticly redirect the costumers to the correct store depending on they're geography, or at least to promopt them to be redirected to the correct catalogue depending on the country they are in, for instance, the .pt only allows registrations and shipments to Portugal, not Spin, and so should the .es respectively act the same way. What is the best practive to tackle this? Multi-store? And if I use multi-store and set up 2 stores in the same group, each with their respective default language to country tld, how do I handle the language selection block mod and the geo redirect? Thank you, please give me a hand on this one guys. Edited December 12, 2014 by joricam (see edit history)
El Patron
geo redirect is not a good idea for seo purposes. nor does a visitor ever want to click except add to cart, so don't make them read they in wrong place and take action, they won't. one assumes that one cctld is copy of other main cctld yes? (this done when adding 2nd shop) Basically you will create/share everything between shops. Very easy and low maint. I suggest allowing .es or .pt customers to shop from either shop. With built in basic ietf vistior language detect of ps, good chance the lang will be matched to pt or es. more info (it does not describe cloning and using cctlds) http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/Managing+Multiple+Shops here example, http://etiendas.co/ http://etiendas.co.uk excuse the lang flags, poor taste change someday
joricam
Hi Patron, thank you for your help, I cant allow customers to shop at either shop because taxes are different, .pt customers will see on price and .es another price, in this case it kind of would be advatageous for the ones with the highest tax rates not to see the prices of the other. I'm new to prestashop, what is this inbuilt ietf and how does it work? Thank you
El Patron
ps will look at first lang (there can be more than one) in the visitors browser and make attempt to match on defined langs in back office. I like geo targeting and this may help you difference between ps basic lang detect and true IETF http://etiendas.co/en/prestashop-module/59-advanced-visitor-language-currency-localization.html you can build a test 2nd shop for look see, use a subdomaian that is parked/aliased to main domain (from hosting) kick the tires...I pretty savvy with this stuff
joricam
Could the IETF redirect the customer to the correct domain? I wouldnt want it to behave like in the exampel you showed me, when someone click a different language flag I would like to have them taken to that language store. It would also be interesting if they could be automaticly redirected to the correct store upon landing on any of the stores, if such "landing" is not corresponding to that customers present country from where he his browsing, for instance, if I'm browsing from Portugal and I try to enter mymultistore.es, I would be redirected (at least the first time) to mymultistore.pt How can I achieve this? Whats the best practice?

El Patron
read above..redirect in my opinion is not a good idea...maybe someone else thinks it a good idea that will help you take the leap.
