Product Size in Shipping Calculation

Hi

 

Does anyone know if or if it's possible to get PS to include product size when it calculates shipping?

 

For example:

• I've set-up the Small Parcel service from the Royal Mail as a Carrier with a maximum height, width and depth of 45cm, 35cm and 16cm respectively.
• I have a product that is 17cm high, 17cm wide and 13cm deep.
• The product doesn't weight much therefore I think I should be able to get a maximum of 4 of the product in a Small Parcel.
• However, if I add 5 of the product to the cart, the carrier is still available for me to pick during check-out which means I will sometimes undercharge for shipping.
• If I amend the weight to breach the limit for a Small Parcel, it correctly disappears from the list.

 

My conclusion is that the PS shipping module only bases it's calculation on weight, is that right?

 

If so, does anyone know how to include size or do people generally calculate shipping some other way?
