CutiePengu
I have 30 products that I'd like to move from one category to another more appropriate category. Is there any way of moving all of them at the same time, or do I have to move them each individually?
Mr Rick
Hi, you can easily do this by editing database if you know ID's of products and category. See product category_product tables, look for id_category_default in product table and id_category in category_product.
CutiePengu
I don't know how to edit the databases. I don't even know how to find out why I have 7 MySQL databases on my site or what they are for, so I don't delete them...lol. I have another question up about being able to find the actual "coding" of the site as well.
Mr Rick
why are you interested in coding when you can't edit it anyways.
musicmaster
You can try my free script Triple Edit (http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/185401-free-script-product-mass-edit-category-multi-edit-order-edit/). With it you can first add the new category and then remove the old for all at the same time. Within Prestashop itself you will need to do this one by one.
vekia
also you can do it easily with some software like store manager (desktop software) it's free for first 30 days http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools-prestashop-modules/2937-store-manager-for-prestashop.html
CutiePengu
Thanks everyone. What I was wanting to do was put all my "Christmas" earrings into one folder, my "Valentines Day" earrings into one folder, etc. I have 90% of my Christmas ones already on the site, and didn't think of making specific "categories" for them until after the fact. As far as DB's all I know about them is how to name them, put a pw with them, "all that stuff you do when first installing" a new module/page to my existing site. I don't even know how to find out what each DB is for once created so I know whether it's being used or not. I never got any further in Web Site Design than making my pages so that they were user/disabled/mobile friendly. The courses I took didn't get into DB's and how to edit/create/delete them. I never before got into e-commerce as far as making my own shop until recently, and over the last 2 years trying to get my shop up and running, I never had any help with setting them up or anything. Everyone must think I'm just an idiot trying to do something that I shouldn't be doing, but I "LOVE TO LEARN", and if people don't help me learn, then how am I going to do it on my own when there is no one to ask? So please, don't be rude to me when I ask questions. I have feelings too! As for the reason behind wanting to edit the coding, I need to add some stuff to the coding for my Google AdWords/Analytics account, so that when tested, it comes back as being able to SEE my site properly. I tried to do this through the module that is installable in PrestaShop, but it keeps telling me that I don't have any projects pending. I don't know what this means. I have my site set up with Google AdWords/Analytics, and even put in my ID, but, I don't know what they mean when they want me to enter "client secret" or "profile". I have several different posts with several different topics, but right now, this is the only one that is active and actually getting a response. So, yes, I know I'm adding more to this post than what the topic is, but no one seems to want to answer my questions that are separate from this one. Please, HELP I could really use the help and NOT the criticism right now. One person even told me that my banner/logo were atrocious, but when asked how they'd fix it, they never replied. So if you are going to criticize me on something, at least give me pointers as to how I could fix it to make it better, not just leave me hanging in mid air wondering what you meant. musicmaster
Hi CutiePengu, I have the impression that you misunderstand how this forum works. Most people first spend time researching things for themselves - reading the manual and articles and searching this forum. And when they ask a question they have done some research and experiments for themselves already. I may see it wrong, but you raise the impression that you didn't invest such time. And then you are asking people - who must make a living too - to spend their time on teaching you things that you could have found out yourself easily with a bit f search on internet and this forum. That can cause irritation. Take your question about "coding for my Google AdWords/Analytics account". I saw that question and decided not to answer. Why? Because your question is so vague and wide. It is not clear what modules you have installed. It is not clear what you have tried. So I could tell you to put code in "header.tpl" but I am not certain whether that would answer your question. CutiePengu
I'm not trying to bother anyone. I have a learning disability, and sometimes when I read manuals, they seem too extremely technical for me, and I get very frustrated trying to understand what the person is trying to say. Sorry for bothering anyone.
