musicmaster
I have the same experience. I suspect it has something to do with anti-virus software checking the localhost. I don't know what to do about it. There probably is some setting in the anti-virus software to ignore localhost but I haven't bothered to find out. rajlaskar
i think its because of some libraries are not installed in your XAMPP setup compare to your online server
vekia
and windows aren't unix based os my installation is much slower than installation on remote server. it's worth to mention that remote service usually is a service only for websites you use your pc to much more things at the same moment it can slow down "performance". El Patron
TIP: instead of using localhost for db server name, use localhost IP 127.0.0.1 you should see a nice little boost in performance. complements of TIP by Bill Dalton US Moderator
NemoPS
In addition to what el patron said, try with 127.0.0.1:8080, specifying the port also speeds things up a bit. In any case, 1.6 connects to prestashop.com directly. Try disconnecting from the internet, you'll see the back office hangs forever. So it might be that as well + antivirus
